About Me
Hey and welcome! I am Tamara Jones, LPC RPT-S™ and I am passionate about helping to shape the clinicians of tomorrow. I truly believe that helping individuals grow into more confident and competent will have a ripple effect that will impact the lives of all the individuals they serve. I have been a licensure supervisor for nine years and a play therapy supervisor for four years and I have a wealth of experience as a clinician as I served a variety of populations and presenting issues while working in community mental health and private practice.
While I have modeled some of my supervision style after my wonderful supervisors from whom I learned a great deal, I have also expanded my approach to include topics that I believe are vital to the growth and success of developing clinicians. I operate from a trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive, and person-centered approach. Building a strong, collaborative relationship is the foundation of our journey together. As I provide guidance and support to aid in your personal and professional growth, these are some components of supervision with me that are emphasized:
Feedback - regular feedback and evaluation of counselor and supervisor
Self-care - complete and review a holistic wellness plan
Cultural humility - in addition to knowledge of different cultures, also explore power, privilege, biases, and systems and their impact on the individuals we serve
Trauma Informed - increase knowledge of trauma, trauma responses, and effective interventions, including bottom-up approaches
Counselor Identity - establish your authentic counseling approach and theoretical orientation
Child Development - increase knowledge of child development and implementation of age- and developmentally- appropriate interventions
Exam preparation - review content and engage in practice questions and discussions
Life after Credentialing - navigating what’s next.
Let’s connect, if you think I’m the right supervisor for you!
